Self-care is the foundation of a healthy and happy life. But taking care of yourself is easier said than done.
Because what specifically does self-care look and feel like? What do you do or stop doing? During this one-day immersion, we learn the basic principles of self-care and look for ways to apply them to our hectic lives.
First, though, we start with the burden we carry: the things we tolerate, the parts of ourselves we hide and the responsibilities we carry, even though they may belong to someone else. We map out and experience this collective burden, so that we can feel it, understand it and change it where necessary.
This takes us to the three pillars of self-care: emotional health, fulfilled needs and strong boundaries. How does one take care of them? How does this work in ourselves and when relating to others?
During this day you will translate your new insights and experiences into a personal and tangible self-care plan. At the end of the day, you will know what you can and want to do to take better care of yourself.
09:00 – 09:15
We start with a round of personal introductions and discuss the goals and structure of the day.
09:15 – 10:45
We uncover three ways in which life burdens us. We reflect on them, draw them and feel them in our bodies. This will help us to really understand and feel how these burdens impact us. We share insights and experiences, which allows us to recognise and learn from one another..
10:45 – 11:00
11:00 – 12:30
We become acquainted with the self-care plan format and the first principle of self-care, which is emotional health. We explore the forms and functions of our emotions, and how they relate to our health. We discuss and experience what happens when we suppress our feelings and look for ways to express them in a healthy way. We start working on our self-care plan and formulate goals and actions that promote emotional health.
12:30 – 13:30
13:30 – 15:00
Need and desires give our life energy and direction. We explore our desires, how we suppress them and what we can do instead. We continue working on our self-care plan by deciding what specifically we can do to meet our needs more fully.
15:00 – 15:15
15:15 – 16:45
We explore and experience our boundaries, where and when we have them, and how we know someone has crossed them. We make connections with the burden we identified earlier, our emotions and our needs. We finalise our self-care plan by committing to actions that strengthen our boundaries.
16:45 – 17:00
We summarise the day, share our learnings and say goodbye.
