Introduction

Do you want inspiration, new experiences and practical tools for your personal development? Our workshops deal with themes that are central to our lives, such as letting go, anger, sadness and burnout. We approach each theme from four different perspectives:

• Insight: we share our knowledge and experiences from our practice as a (relationship) therapist. What are the main things to know about this theme? How does it manifest itself in our lives? What are the visible and hidden rules of the game? More insight gives you more inner freedom.

• Impact: You experience the theme in your body and your feelings. This deepens your understanding and makes the theme more tangible.

• Development: (un)conscious patterns of feeling, thinking and doing often play a role around each theme. Before you can break through those that do not serve you any longer, you need to develop something within yourself. We investigate what that is and how you do it.

• Action: we invite you to deal with the theme in a new way. What does that look like in practice? What can you do differently in relation to yourself or someone else?

Letting go

Life shapes us and we shape life. The experiences we gain along the way stay with us. Which is a blessing when they make us flourish, but less so when they imprison us. Especially if we are weighed down by emotions that no longer serve us, and experiences and beliefs keep us stuck. When we let go, we free ourselves and create new space.

But how do you let go of something or someone, when they are dear to you or when they hurt you? When our sadness and anger overwhelm us, or we fear that letting go means losing the connection to something important. Also, many people say that “time heals all wounds” or that we should “just move on”. But it’s not that simple. Letting go, mourning a loss, is something we do, on the inside. It’s not easy, it takes work, but it is possible.

In this workshop we explore what it means to hold on and let go. Why do we (really) hold on? When does that serve us and when does it hinder us? And what does it take to let go in a healthy way – honouring what was good, being realistic about what wasn’t – and creating space for something new in our lives?

Anger

Partners who get annoyed for no reason or say there is “nothing” wrong when clearly they are upset. Colleagues who agree to do something but then ‘forget’ because they actually didn’t want to do it in the first place. A boss who explodes in rage at the drop of a hat.

Anger – which is what we are talking about – is one of our core emotions. It is unavoidable at home and at work and depending on how we deal with anger, it can be a great source of vitality, connection and protection or something that can hurt us or damage our relationships.

How do you receive other people’s anger? Is it ok for you to feel anger, or do you think it’s impolite or scary? Does your anger control you and do you regret what you say or do out of anger?

This workshop tackles these and other questions. Participants explore the various functions of anger, look at what triggers their own and find ways to express their anger more safely, so it can become a transformative part of our life.

Fear

A knot in your stomach. A clenched throat. Cold hands and a dry mouth. In other words: fear. Of something or somebody, real or imagined. actively present or silently dictating things in the background.

Fear can protect us. It keep us alert so we can avoid getting hurt. But it can also be rooted in limiting beliefs about ourselves or hurtful experiences from the past. In which case fear controls us and drains us.

Fear has the power to paralyse us or get us stuck analysing all the ways in which something can go wrong. And then we don’t get around to living our life, to exploring new avenues at work or new relationships. Then, fear leads to regret, guilt, and wasted chances. Especially when it makes you ignore your calling in life or find the love you deserve.

In this workshop we explore the difference between fear that is helpful and fear that is unhelpful . We look at our fears, try to figure out what they are really all about and how we can tap into sources of confidence and courage.

Burn-out

Everybody is busy. Full agendas, high expectations, ambitious targets and the need to take care of others. Many of us also feel the weight of social media, friends and family, as well the pressure to be fit, happy, beautiful and successful.

No wonder many of us buckle under the pressure and end up having a burn-out. Or, maybe even worse, not actually have a burn-out, but just be exhausted all the time.

In this workshop we look at the mental and emotional side of burn-out. How does it impact us? What is the path to recovery? And what can we do to avoid it?

Perhaps it’s too much pressure on us to figure this out in just three hours. Nevertheless, we will explore the many sides of burn-out, hoping you will learn practical ways in which you can do things differently.
