Which leaves little time and attention for what happens inside of us, for asking those crucial questions. How am I doing? What do I really want? Where am I heading?

If you take time to listen to yourself, you will find there are all these things stirring inside, waiting for you to pay attention. So perhaps it’s time to treat yourself to a weekend retreat.

Join others on a two-day journey into your inner world. Together we will look at the past, present and future of our lives. We will structure, let go, strengthen and create space for something new.

Your retreat is an individual process within the safety of a group. This means attention for your personal story while others join you along the way. Together we will share, learn from each other and provide each other with encouragement and support.

Picture of the past
We make space for something new by looking at the recent past. What influenced your personal life? Which successes and challenges did you encounter at work? We put things in perspective and identify underlying patterns. In between, we have a break.

A delicious and healthy meal helps us to re-energise.

Exchange in nature
We head into the forest for renewed energy, inspiration and a meaningful conversation. We exchange experiences around a particular theme and among the trees we find ways to let go, bury the past and put things in perspective.

Being and not being
With the past more organised, it’s time for the present. Who are you, regardless of your roles at work and home? What else are you? What about you could receive some more nourishment? Together we explore the many fascinating facets of our identity. Along the way, we take a break.

Integration
The day has brought us many things and our bodies and hearts are full. Time to begin to integrate. What do we need to preserve what is good, stimulate something new, soften that which is hard?

Time to let go of each other for a bit and spend time on our own.

We share a meal and some good stories.

We continue our expedition with meditation and martial arts. We practice our attention in movement and in silence, both within ourselves and with others.

We in the world
Yesterday we considered the past and our sense of self. Now we look at our place in the world. What about the world burdens us, zaps our energy? And what about the world do we value, what do we contribute to it and which parts of us can flourish in the world?

Walk of silence
After a busy morning, we take a walk in nature. In silence, we ponder a number of questions.

Time to nurture our bodies with some good food.

Map of the future
Now we focus on the future. On the opportunities that are emerging, the different paths we may follow and the people and events that we could meet along the way. We map them all out, so we can begin to chart the best possible course.

Wrap up
We are nearing the end of our retreat. There is one, final activity with which we look at what the future holds in store and then we wrap up. We summarise, set an intention for the future and say goodbye.

Location: Samaya

Samaya is a small-scale monastery hotel. Surrounded by 3 hectares of English landscape garden, an orchard and two beautiful terraces, it is a natural place for tranquility and reflection. The building is open and light.

Our central place during the retreat is De Zuidhof. This is an attractive room with a terrace and good privacy, partly due to its location at the end of a wing. From the hall we have a wonderful view of the garden on three sides. We have a private terrace with tables and chairs and a large fireplace.

Samaya also has a communal living and dining area, where the on-site kitchen serves organic and vegetarian food. The kitchen alternates between North African, Asian and European cuisine.

You will have your own room during the retreat. This is simple but clean and has its own shower/toilet and a comfortable bed. There is also a room for disabled guests.

Samaya is located in the middle of the Netherlands at Hollendewagenweg 20, 3985SG Werkhoven. That is close to the A27 and the A12. There are charging points for electric cars. For further details about Samaya, please refer to their website.

Booking

The retreat is led by Ilja and Fleur together and takes place from Saturday 09:00 to Sunday 17:00. There is room for a maximum of 12 people. Your investment is €650 (including VAT). This gets you:
